Based at the The Warwickshire Event Centre in Leamington Spa, Classic Car Auctions specialise in the ‘Everymans’ Classic car. The Auction house has become one of the major attractions at the NEC Classic car shows, which has strengthened their reputation to buy and sell the best examples of iconic classic cars. This auction is their May Auction based at their own premises.
All three generations of the iconic Fiesta XR2 were for sale, the 1983 31,000 mile car sold for £8,325, with the 1991 example selling for £6,216. The MK2 remained unsold.
The last of the Pre-GM Saabs, the 900 Turbo models have long become recognised as classics and as result command high premiums. This has had a positive knock-on effect on the lesser but cheaper to run and maintain cars. This very well looked after four owner car has 72,600 miles and has had the benefit of dry storage. It went for a very reasonable £4,662, which is good value for such a clean example.
Jaguars are always strong sellers, and the market for good cars is often healthy. This LHD XJ6 has the 4.2 litre engine and is sold as a restoration project, selling for £10,800. The XJRs is a car number 56 out of 100 built in recognition of Jaguar’s 1988 victory at Le Mans. It came with full service history and has a recorded 40,300 with just three owners. A great investment at £12,765.
Two Fiats at each end of the range scale, but virtually equal in their demand. The recently restored 1971 Fiat 500 Giannini TV (Turismo Veloce) sold for £12,432. The Bertone-styled body Dino has a Ferrari V6 came from France and imported into the UK 13 years ago. It sold for £25,641.
Very clean examples of once common family cars. The Astra was a one owner car, with its original bill of sales and FSH, a perfect starter classic for £583. With just 22,000 miles on the clock this one of only 1,200 Ford Capri 2-litre V4 GT XLR reached a respectable £22,755.
